Took me a few min but from 0-40 is increments of 10mph.

40-140 is increments of 20mph but the same needle sweep as lower speeds.

It's a quarter of the way between 40 and 60? What's wrong? The lack of 70 kph is more annoying, but the multiscale speedo makes sense.

They could’ve scaled back a smidgen and kept the whole thing at 10 mph increments. No one buying a Hyundai Venue needs a speedo that goes to 140.

It’s the same kind of thing on my A3 around 80kph (my car goes around 225-230 kph at the rev limiter in fifth) :

Funny thing is that another version of the same cluster exist with a different twist (this one is from a 1.6 NA of 101hp wich will definitely never go to 260kph) :

No it doesn’t, and this one in particular makes even less sense.

W hatever rental crap it is, it will never make 140, why would it extend that far ? No reason to go beyond 100 if they need better readability.

Changing the scale midway through the sweep of the needle causes the driver to spend more time focused on something other than the road. It's dangerous and provides no value.

I did like the 85 mph speedometers. These were mandatory in the US in 1979-81 but some models continued using them a lot longer.
